ASEAN AFRICA Forum 2022 in Seychelles
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde was warmly welcome by the ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and the senior officials of the ASEAN secretariat, during his courtesy to the ASEAN head quarter in Jakarta, this morning
In his welcome remarks, the Secretary General of ASEAN reiterate his two days meaningful visit to Seychelles on December 15, 2021. Dato Lim reaffirms his intention to follow up his productive meeting with President of Seychelles and the fruitful discussion during the welcome dinner with the Seychelles cabinet ministers by kind invitation of Vice President of Seychelles.
Minister Radegonde also expressed that Seychelles is looking forward to further strengthened the existing good cooperation with ASEAN which has been done by the Envoy of Seychelles to ASEAN, Mr. Nico Barito especially the positive outcome of the recent ASEAN Seychelles Blue Economy Forum in Dubai Expo on December 10, 2021.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, also expressed the readiness to cooperate further on the development of ASEAN Centre in Seychelles to promote culture and tourism, the small medium businesses, the creative economy not only for Seychelles but beyond to Africa and to be another objects of interest for tourism in Seychelles.
ASEAN secretariat also highlighted their interest to the successful outcome of Seychelles tourism, for which Minister Radegonde welcome to share the best experience and success story of one of his portfolio as the tourism minister, for realizing sustainability growth of tourism especially during this pandemic period.
To deepen the engagement between ASEAN - Seychelles and beyond to AFRICA with ASEAN member states, the ASEAN Secretariat proposed to co-host an ASEAN AFRICA Forum in Seychelles by 2022, to share the upcoming prospects of fostering economic growth across various opportunities between ASEAN AFRICA through Seychelles.
