Seychelles & Malaysia will work closely on tourism promotion
The Government of Seychelles participated in the World Tourism Conference (WTC) at Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from October 04 to 06, 2010. Dr.Nico Barito, HC of Seychelles for Indonesia during  bilateral talk with Hon.Dato’Sri Dr.Ng Yen Yen this afternoon presents the compliments of the Government of Seychelles for the success of WTC and looks forward to develop reciprocal collaboration on tourism with Malaysia.
Mr. Nico presents brief introductory on Seychelles and its success story in tourism, and options of bilateral collaboration with Malaysia tourism board and to accelerate economic development between Seychelles and Malaysia, and beyond  between Africa and Asean via Seychelles. Minister Dr.Ng Yen Yen highly admired the success of tourism management in Seychelles and  income generated from the professionally managed  islands resort. Minister YenYen has given positive reaction and requested her staff members to identify few small islands in Malaysia to learn from the best practices of Seychelles.
Other topics discussed include inviting more Malaysian investor to take part in the resilience of responsible tourism in Seychelles. Mr. Nico also mentioned that there are huge volume of small medium business travelers that come to Malaysia from Seychelles and its neighboring countries. That such travelers should also be regarded as prime mover since this individual trader will eventually bring the family and friends to enhance the diversify culture & culinary of Malaysia and foster the growth of the local economy.
In principal, both Mr.Nico and Minister Yen Yen  will embark on a joint tourism promotion to bring closer Malaysia & Seychelles as tourism gateway for ASEAN and Africa.
The Minister of Tourism of Malaysia is accompanied during the meeting by the secretary general of Ministry of Tourism Dato’ Dr.Ong Hong Peng, who has been requested by the Minister to realistically follow up to the meeting and make it happen.
Mr.Barito on behalf of the government of Seychelles invited the Minsiter and her team to visit Seychelles and take part in the Tourism Carnival 2011 and both parties agreed to continue the good friendship to make every effort to highlight tourism as one key factor of revenue for both countries and its people.
The overall mission is productive and that Seychelles have the opportunity to learn on how the Cabinet Committee of Tourism in Malaysia had successfully identify an interesting concept of The Malaysia Truly Asia, which has positioned Malaysia in the top-of-mind destinations, and how it may benefit the regional tourism economic growth of Asia. Tourism knows no border; the benefit one nation gets will benefit thy neighbours, as quoted by Mr.Nico Barito in the closing.
